北京时间10月16日消息，据国外媒体报道，Google推出实验室版网站管理员工具的同时，悄然撤下了爬虫统计中的PageRank部分。对此，Google并未发布任何官方声明。
Google员工苏珊-莫斯克瓦(Susan Moskwa)在Google网站管理员帮助论坛中确认了该消息：
“我们一直在告诫网站管理员不应该过分注重PageRank；很多人似乎认为PageRank是衡量网站最重要的指标，这显然是误解。但一方面我们告诉人们不去关注PageRank值，而另一方面我们却主动提供PageRank数据，我们觉得这样做很愚蠢，因此我们所以撤下了PageRank数据。”
但目前Google工具栏仍然提供PageRank信息，而Google工具栏的使用者数量显然远远超过网站管理员工具。
据悉早在2007年，Google就对去除Google工具栏中的PageRank功能征求过用户意见。但此事不了了之。未来Google可能会停止提供PageRank信息。不过业内人士称，PageRank直接关系到Google的品牌，Google不会轻易作出该决定。

I was doing my daily perusing of our client sites in Webmaster Tools, and I noticed something interesting...
The PageRank distribution feature, once found on the crawl stats section under "Diagnostics," is no longer displayed.
Is this a permanent change?
Perhaps public PR is finally going to be dumped?

A PR update was expected in OCT....that's also not there !
It'll be too boring working on net without seeing a PR for webpages !

Yep, PR seems to be missing for me too. I'm not sure if it's going to be permanently removed or whether there was a problem/bug with the feature that they are in the process of fixing. In either case it's strange that Google would just remove the feature without any official explanation on their blog to users?

Anyways.....generally in every 3/4 months the PR (the so called public PR) is updated

We've been telling people for a long time that they shouldn't focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it's the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it. :-)
